When The Macanese Plate Is More Than A Codfish

Living close to seabed, a grayish fish with three dorsal
fins was found abundant in North Atlantic from
where Portugal—along with France and England,
started sending boats annually on the 16th century. A lengthy
ocean voyage in those times would call for a massive stock of
food and because refrigeration was not yet available, sailors,
voyagers, and yes, conquerors of newfound lands thought of
preserving what could be eaten—like this fish. That time,
Portugal was tactically mapping a southeastern part of China
